Gods of Egypt

Director: Alex Proyas
Writers: Matt Sazama, Burk Sharpless
Actors: Gerard Butler, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Brenton Thwaites

When i saw the trailer of the movie i was so excited and anxiously waited for the movie. I mean who doesn’t want to see gods turn into beasts and fight each other and ofcourse Gerard butler aka Leonidas was on screen as Set the god of the desert.
Lemme start by saying that genuinely it is a very good film but
After watching it i have a few problems with the film.
The amount of whitewashing done by the film is incredible. You would think Egypt was in Hollywood or they were cousins at the very least, but no. All the main actors are largely Caucasian which only proves that if they do a Zulu movie please expect a largely white casting. There is scene in the movie where the slaves are literally black actors and the gods are all white. If they could they would probably paint white people with some black tar and make them look black so they don’t have to cast black people. Imagine that, a black Tom Cruise
The story is long, 2 hours of watching the gods then you realize that they are just a godly version of humans. They lie, make mistakes, they fix them and they can die. So much for immortality huh?
Yes the graphics are good, yes the fights are particularly entertaining in an almost anime like way. However i am extremely biased against the amount of white washing in the film. I mean we have a Scottish god as the lead villain and  two European actors as the main characters so i will wait a minute before i take another sip of that hogwash again.
